First Day of School

Well, the morning didn't go quite as I planned but we made it! Avery was not happy with the outfit I chose last night for her to wear. So she was extremely cranky all morning. Riggs on the other hand woke up HAPPY!! He didn't even mind that he was going to have to wear a tshirt as opposed to a golf shirt (his preferred shirt everyday!)

Riggs rode with Tim and Avery rode with me...this made Avery very happy. "big girls ride with mommy, and big boys ride with Daddy" Hope she is ok with Daddy bringing them from here on out!

Once in the classroom, Avery was sad, Riggs was just a little sad. They both wanted me to stay. Then we saw our friend George! That was exciting. I loaded up their cubbies with their new Dearie blankets! Then we headed out...Avery just cried for a few minutes.

My Happy Boy! He looks a little tired, we are gonna have to work on going to bed a little earlier!
Saying cheese...just not looking at the camera. Avery insisted on the hat. And we have to wear fast shoes. Mommy is gonna need to do some shopping for "school" clothes!

Riggs going in for the hug!
And no we did not fix hair this morning!

The summer my babies grew up!

Tomorrow is Riggs and Avery's first day of school at Guchereau's! Where did the time go? I remember putting them at Grace when they had just learned to sit up. We had such a wonderful experience at Grace. I know the kids were loved every minute they were there. Thankfully I'll get to reconnect with all the Grace mom's and teacher's when Baby C is 6 months old!

Over the past few months I have seen my kids go from baby toddlers to full blown toddlers! Their level of communication and understanding is amazing to me! And let me tell you, they notice EVERYTHING! I can't get anything by those too, especially Avery. We definitely have to be more careful choosing our words.

We started the summer with our first swimming lessons, which I was very nervous about because we didn't spend much time in the pool last summer (ear infections and tubes will scare a momma from the pool!). Three weeks before swim lessons started we put them in my dad's pool and you would have thought we put them in boiling water! They HATED it and SCREAMED every minute. I was convinced we were going to have to cancel our swim class! However after the first few days, and an amazing swim coach at Crawfish Aquatics, my kids were LOVING the pool. All they could talk about was kick, kick, kick....paddle, paddle, paddle. Avery was the best floater of the class. Riggs was the bravest!

I tried to take the kids to the pool as often as I could, but that is a very hard task to do while pregnant! We managed to tag along to the Red's pool and Oakbourne pool with friends quite a few times. We even went down to Houma to spend the day at Lovie's pool. Then it got too darn hot to take them. Then the rains came. Then vacation. Then I realized it had been weeks since they had been in the pool! I immediately signed them up for lessons in August! (which BTW went great!!)

We spent a week in Lake Tahoe with all the cousins. The kids loved being with Chloe, Les, Vivi and Luke all day, everyday. It really was so much fun to see them interact and play non stop. Les, Chloe, Avery and Riggs all shared the bunk room, and to our surprise it worked out really well! Which was super important because I knew the kids would be moving out of the nursery when we got back! They did great flying (which was a huge relief!). The travel home about did me in, with all the walking I thought my back might just give out!

When we returned from Tahoe the kids had a huge surprise. Their room was now upstairs and they had new Dora and Cars toddler beds! They were so excited. The first week went by great. They loved going upstairs for bathtime and books and bedtime! The bedtime struggles they gave us before Tahoe were suddenly gone! It really made our lives easier. Why didn't we do this sooner?! They are still loving their new pad, and they are excited that the nursery is for baby sister. They even decided that baby sister needed to use Avery's crib because she is a girl!

The kids have also had the best time having sleepover's at Dearie's!!! They LOVE to go there and have adventures of all kinds. And from what Dearie tells me, they are super well behaved. They listen to her, eat well, and sleep great! They have their own little table to do arts and crafts and to dine at. They get to hang out with Aunt Steph and Eleanor Grace. They get to eat at the Picadilly. We especially love the treat to have the night and day off! The first time they slept at Dearie's I think I slept 12 hours straight! We are all looking forward to more sleepovers at Dearie's house, especially once Baby C arrives! I know they are getting old enough to really start making memories and I know they will always remember playing at Dearie's...mostly because it's way more fun than at Mommy's house!

Riggs, aka Rory, has become quite the golfer this summer. He has a natural talent that is amazing. Tim tries to take him and Avery to the golf course once a week. They love their quality time with Daddy and I'm not sure their is a better way for them to enjoy it!

The kids have also spent a lot of time with babysitters, mainly because we didn't have MDO for 6 weeks and with this pregnancy it is difficult for me to handle two 2.5 year olds! They love, Miss Meka, Miss Ashley, and Miss Reagan! I couldn't have gotten thru this summer without them!

As much as it saddens me that my babies are growing so fast, I am looking forward to taking a little breather between now and when Baby C arrives. It will be a time of rejuvenation that I desperately need ;)

Avery and Riggs, Mommy and Daddy love you so much. Good Luck tomorrow!
