Missing our babies...

While we have had an amazing and much needed vacation we are so ready to get home and see our babies!!! I'm sure this week has taken it's toll on Nana an PopPop and all of their helpers, Dearie, Emma, Aunt Angie, Mimi and anyone else who lent a helping hand while we were in California. Our flight home is delayed and we keep praying that we will make it home tonight.

Daddy will be missing history, UK vs Louisville, at the final four in New Orleans. Hoping the plane has an Internet connection so he can keep up with the game.

Evelyn's First Day at Grace Mother's Day Out

First Day of School
I have no idea why time is flying by this fast, but it hurts this momma to know my baby girl is big enough to go to Mother's Day Out. I still remember bringing the twins - and this week I am going look at PreK schools for them!

This morning was crazy, no crazier than any other morning mind you, but still crazy. We were all trying to get out the door and for some reason no matter what time we wake up we still can't get out of the door until 8:30! After Timmy helped load all of the kiddos it was time for the twins to bring their baby sister to her very first day of school! They were very excited that she was going to baby school!

These lovely ladies also took care of Riggs and Avery! Evelyn is surely going to gets lots of loving (spoiling) from Ms. Gail and Ms. Savannah! It was so good seeing so many familiar faces at Grace. I am really looking forward to the network of mommies again!

Leaving my baby girl...I think I might have cried if I had been alone. But I had to hold my composure to for the twins!

On our way out Sweet Evelyn was crying as Ms. Savannah rocked her for her morning nap. I'm sure she is going to do great today! After all she is the "good" one!

Daddy wasn't able to go to drop off but I know he was thinking about his baby girl! This is what he posted on facebook: started Baby Evelyn in daycare today - first day of school. in 24 years or so, she'll be wrapping up her masters or law degree and generally getting ready to tackle the world. I've already written her graduation card (in my head). good luck, little one. we'll be here for you - every step.

My baby girl is growing way to fast for this momma! Today she is celebrating 5 months in this crazy world we call life. She, somehow, has made our lives a little bit easier because she is so good to us. We love you sweet Evelyn!

Evelyn - 3 weeks

Technically Evelyn is 3 weeks, 3 days in the pictures, but what are you going to do when the mama is having surgery to remove kidney stones on the day you turn 3 weeks old? To say that Anne had bigger things to worry about than pictures with a bear is an understatement!

Better late than never, I say. And I can't wait to do it all over again in three days!
Not Aunt B again!

My bow is this big!

Hmmm, something tells me this lady isn't going away.
Tiny toes
Sweet Maggie wanted to join in on the photo shoot.
Wait, she's not ours?
So did Avery.
She is a touch proud of her little sister.

Evelyn - 2 weeks

Today Evelyn is 2 weeks old. Yesterday she lost her umbilical cord - found by Aunt B (yay me!). She is the sweetest little girl and sleeping like a champ. True to her third child place in life, she is easy going and such a joy to be around.

Evelyn - 1 week

Evelyn was discharged from the hospital on Thursday, but Charlotte woke up with a tummy bug so I was yet again not able to go love on her. This morning I could take it no longer and went over first thing to finally hold that precious baby girl.

And to take her 1 week pictures. Because this is her Aunt B, after all. Technically Evelyn is 1 week, 1 day in these pictures, but I had to make sure we were germ free before I braved meeting Evelyn for the second time.

For the first 20 weeks, we will mark Evelyn's growth with her teddy bear, then go monthly after that. I cannot wait to watch her get bigger and bigger while that bear shrinks and shrinks!

Welcome to the world, Evelyn Lucille!

Friday afternoon while the girls were at he movies with Ryan, Layne, and Ashely and Robert was at the grocery with Wade, I was scurrying around trying to finish some last-minute party preparations when I got a call from Tim.

"Anne just called me. She thinks she might be in labor," he said.

"Of course she is," I said. "I am here, just let me know if you need me to come to the hospital."

I called Anne, and she assured me that this was probably another false alarm and to not come to the hospital. I went on with my party preparations, but couldn't shake this uneasy feeling that Anne really was in labor. I sent Tim a text asking the status and his reply was quick but to the point. "Happening."

I called Wade, informed him of what was going on, and rushed off to the hospital. When I got there Anne was having some contractions, but nothing terrible. They were about every 3-5 minutes and hovering around the mid-30s on the contraction monitor. She was 100% in labor, but since there was another c-section taking place, they were going to hold off and give Anne her spinal when they took her into the OR.

They kindly (note that is dripping with sarcasm) gave her some IV pain meds to help ease the pain, then left Tim and I to help Anne through her contractions.

The first 45 minutes was smooth sailing (says the woman who was NOT in labor), but things when downhill pretty quickly. Anne's contractions starting coming every 30 seconds to minute and a half and were getting well up into the 60+ range on the monitor. Even worse was that they were 1) lasting longer and 2) would start to decline then quickly shoot back up again.

Poor Anne was in so much pain I though I might cry for her. We both go to the same fabulous OB, so I had his cell phone number from when I was pregnant with Robert. I sent him panic text after panic text. "Anne feels the need to push. Fear baby is coming. Help!" He came to check on her status then left to find a room, any room, to deliver this baby (in addition to the c-section going on, there were also 7 other women in active labor. Good times on a Friday night!).

While he was searching for a room, a nurse came in to check on Anne after hearing her scream in pain. Turns out Anne got all the way to 7 cm. Without pain medication on board. She is a ROCK STAR!

The nurse rushed off to get help and things happened pretty quickly after that. Anne was wheeled into the OR to get her spinal while Tim and Kelly got in their scrubs. I gave Kelly a quick tutorial on how to use my camera, and then we waited.
Tim and me - he was official with face mask, I was just trying not to spread germs
Anne finally feeling no pain and ready to meet her baby girl.
At 6:32 pm, precious Evelyn Lucille entered this world weighing in at 7 pounds, 13 ounces. If I remember correctly, she was 20 inches long.

Tim was able to bring Evelyn out to her adoring fans and we all went a bit nuts over her. Aunt B couldn't wait to snap her first picture of her (and I wonder where my girls get their lack of patience from).

The stunning Evelyn Lucille

Anne was discharged from the hospital today and hopefully Evelyn will be coming home tomorrow. She is working hard to regulate her own sugar levels, but once she can do that, she can go home to meet her siblings.

I am working hard on kicking this cold (6 days and counting of no voice - though the past two days it has been coming and going) so I can love on Miss Evelyn.

Congratulations to Anne, Tim, Avery, Riggs, and Abi on the new addition to your family! Sweet Evelyn is adorable and I love her so much already!
